Mission
Its mission is to identify and bring young vocal talent to fruition.
The foundation does this by offering lessons, rehearsals and stage experience.
The Nationale Koren provide a means of musical development for children, youth and adolescents.
Excellent vocal education by passionate musicians, teachers and choral conductors
There are four Nationale Koren: the National Children's Choir, National Boys' Choir, National Women's Youth Choir and the National Mixed Youth Choir. For children ages 6 and up, there are Junior Choirs.
Considered the "Young Orange" of classical singing, the Nationale Koren provide an important experiential venue for the development of young singers. Over 230 children and young people now sing in the various choirs. Along the lines of the different choir compositions, singers are divided by age and level. Regionally, they attend weekly lessons and once a month they meet with the entire choir to refine repertoire and choral sound. In addition to the training that singers gain in choir, the Nationale Koren also offer training spots for soloists.
The success of the Nationale Koren is the direct result of outstanding vocal education by inspired musicians, teachers and choral conductors, led by the internationally acclaimed former and current leaders of the artistic team, and great attention to the development, mentoring and well-being of individual members and choirs.
More than a hundred different productions, at home and abroad
Over the years, both choral and soloists have participated in over a hundred different productions; at home and abroad; for radio and TV; with professional orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berliner Philharmoniker, with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Bernard Haitink, Iván Fischer, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
The Nationale Koren is one of the activities of Vocaal Talent Nederland, this foundation has been dedicated to the musical and vocal training of young singing talents for 35 years.
Vision
Nationale Koren strives for a future in which choral music remains a unifying force within society. Our ambition is to create even broader support by reaching new audiences and making choral culture more accessible to all. We want to build bridges between diverse musical traditions and cultures, so that choral singing becomes a reflection of the versatility of our society.
Through inspiring educational programs, collaborations with top musicians and innovative stage opportunities, we continue to provide young singers with a solid foundation to develop their passion and talent. In this way, Nationale Koren remains a place where the joy of singing, artistic excellence and inclusiveness come together.
