'Every performance by this choir confirms its exceptional quality.'

In April 2023, the National Women's Youth Choir was awarded the Young Talent Award of the Concertgebouw, and praised for its tremendous contribution to training young vocal talent for many years. Simon Reinink, general director of The Concertgebouw: 'Every performance of this choir confirms its exceptional quality.' The choir features young singers aged 16 to 29. They have an enormous drive to keep developing alongside their studies, school or job, and besides more traditional works, they like to be challenged in their own way in performing modern, complex music, such as the women's choir in Aus Licht by Stockhausen.

The National Women's Youth Choir is made up of young women aged 16 to 30. The choir performs music from 1500 to the present day on professional stages both in the Netherlands and abroad and has collaborated with guest conductors such as Eric Ericson, Kaspar Putniņš, and Sigvards Klava. The National Women’s Youth Choir regularly performs in professional concert series such as the NTR Saturday Matinee and the AVROTROS Friday Concerts, among others, with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. Abroad, the choir has performed on several occasions with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Venice Baroque Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic.

From 2006 to 2015, the National Women’s Youth Choir provided the music for the National May 4 Commemoration at the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam for eight years. Composers wrote new music especially for this occasion, including Roel van Oosten, Theo Loevendie, Theo Verbeij, Iván Fischer, and Matthias Kadar. The choir enjoys performing new music; for example, it also performed the Galgenlieder by Lera Auerbach, featuring the Berlage Saxophone Quartet conducted by László Nemes. Together with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, they will soon perform the impressive oratorio Fire in My Mouth by Julia Wolfe.
