On the eve of the school break, the young singers of Nationale Koren dive into their favorite Christmas repertoire. They sing Christmas classics such as Jingle Bell Rock and White Christmas alongside medieval songs and choral works by Britten and Poulenc. All four choirs of the Nationale Koren, TivoliVredenburg’s former ensemble in residence, will take the stage for a celebration of familiarity.
National choirs
The Nationale Koren takes young vocal talent, ages 6 through 29, under its wing. They see themselves as the “Jong Oranje” of classical singing. The vocal institute scouts, mentors, and trains these artists. We’ve seen firsthand how all this investment leads to world-class concerts. During the 2021–2022 season, the Nationale Koren ensemble was in residence at TivoliVredenburg.
The youngest juniors
The Nationale Koren consists of four sections: the National Children’s Choir, the National Boys’ Choir, the National Girls’ Youth Choir, and the National Mixed Youth Choir. Tonight, all four choirs will take the stage under the direction of Irene Verburg and László Norbert Nemes. Together, they form the passionate artistic leadership team and coach and conduct the children and young people.
