Irene Verburg has established her name as a specialist in accompanying very young singers. After obtaining her Master's degree at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, she continued her vocal studies in New York, for which, among other things, she received the Talentenbeurs for excellent students from the Ministry of OCW. As a mezzo-soprano she performs solo in opera and other concerts. She has also devoted herself with great dedication and passion to accompanying young singing talent. Irene was a singing teacher at the School for Young Talent of the Royal Conservatory of Music. As a regular vocal coach with the Nationale Koren, she has prepared numerous concerts vocally over the years. She works with the choir and individual singers on flexibility and distinctive quality of choral sound, appropriate to the concert repertoire and to the wishes of the respective conductor including Vladimir Jurowski, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Markus Stenz. Irene Verburg has been conductor of the National Boys' Choir since 2017 and leads the soloist classes. As of September 2023, she and László Norbert Nemes form the artistic direction of Vocaal Talent Nederland and the conducting team for the four Nationale Koren.
