With enthusiasm director Irene Verburg ahead to the new season of the Nationale Koren. From September through December 2025, an impressive number of concerts are scheduled, bringing together young talent and professional choirs and orchestras in great classical works.
The National Women's Youth Choir opens its concert season Sept. 28 in Festival SeptemberMe in Amersfoort featuring works by Bryce Dessner and Caroline Shaw, among others. On Sept. 30, the National Mixed Youth Choir will follow in a performance of Mozart's Requiem (Concertgebouw, Maarten Engeltjes). On Oct. 10, the 4 Nationale Koren will perform their own concert along with musicians from the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra (Irene Verburg and László Nemes) a contemporary program 'The world of Arvo Pärt' (TivoliVredenburg) and on Oct. 11, boys from the National Boys Choir will sing along in the immortal Requiem By Duruflé (Concertgebouw, Stephan Zilias).
In December, the choirs will once again be on major stages with Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream (Concertgebouw Orchestra, Iván Fischer), versions of Mahler 8 in Groningen (Noord Nederlands Orkest, Antony Hermus), and a series of atmospheric Christmas concerts featuring Charpentiers Messe de Minuit (Musica Temprana, Adrian Rodriguez van der Spoel). On December 21, the National Women's Youth Choir, the National Boys' Choir and the National Children's Choir will sing a family Christmas concert along with the youngest singers from the Junior Choirs. The year comes to a festive close at the end of December by participating in the family concert of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker at The Doelen (Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Swann van Rechem).
