About the St. Matthew Passion
Bach's musical account of the last days of Jesus is brilliant, compelling and moving. Anyone who has heard the opening chorus of the Matthew Passion hears, is immediately captivated by the almost otherworldly beauty and intensity of this music. Other highlights include the poignant soprano aria "Blute nur," the comforting alto aria "Erbarme dich" with its famous violin solo, and the overwhelming choral work "Sind Blitze, sind Donner.

Ivor Bolton replaces conductor René Jacobs, who unfortunately had to cancel this concert due to personal circumstances.
